Moel Famau

How it was supposed to be.

The Tower was built to commemorate the Jubilee of King George III. The foundation stone was laid by Lord Kenyon in 1810. The Tower however was never finished.

On November 1st 1862 the part construction was blown down in a gale. The people of Flintshire and Denbighshire  had donated £6000 for its construction.

The Tower stands nearly 2000 feet above sea level and can be
seen from over 100's of square miles.
You know you are nearly home when you see the bump in the distance.

I think a project worthy of being finished. This has been talked about in local media

World News - Jeremy has it right

It is a strange world. I agree with Jeremy Corbyn MP and Dennis Skinner MP.
They do not want us interfering in Syria.

A few years ago David Cameron tried to bomb Syria, Parliament stopped him.

We've been training terrorists for the last 5 years trying to de-stable Syria
Now he wants to bomb Syria's so called enemy who we've been training.

We always have plenty of money for war

I'm sure President Putin can find the UK something to do.
Perhaps we can make the tea.

Fact: Russia controls Syria air space with rockets, aircraft and jamming equipment.
Syria invited Russia into Syria, we're not invited.

Penyffordd Health - Vitamins

I see the new health centre in Hope is coming on leaps and bounds. My last doctor's surgery visit was a 90 minute wait for a 5 minute consultation. I'm looking to join Hope if conditions are better. That's if they are allowing new signings.

Vitamins and supplements, doctors hate them. Perhaps I should say they in general disregard them. They are after all agents for the pharmaceutical industry.

I take all the usual plus Vit D, lugol's solution (iodine), curcumin plus peperine, ginger, selenium, coconut oil, DHEA, whey powder and magnesium chloride.

I take probiotics.

I'm looking to take MSM, licorice, magnesium bicarbonate.

I take all this stuff as I am over 60 and things start to slow down in the body

I took Vit D all last winter, my blood levels showed mid range all through. By February most people's Vit D are low unless you have had a foreign holiday.

Calcium carbonate which doctors hand out like sweeties to us old uns are to be treated with extreme caution.

Here's the low down on what the medical establishment think of vitamins and supplements.
It's USA based but applies to the EU.

Speed Watch

Community SpeedWatch Volunteers recruiting opportunities

Dear Watch Member,

North Wales Police are looking for local
volunteers to help deter speeding motorists across the region. Please see attached documents

The initiative is a partnership approach between the community, the police and the local authorities which is already running successfully in other police force areas.

“Community Speed Watch gives local people the ability to actively get involved in road safety. It can be set up in any village, small town, or urban area, governed by either a 20, 30 or 40 miles per hour speed limit,” said Sergeant John Roberts from GoSafe, the Wales Road Casualty Reduction Partnership.

“Motorists who speed through residential neighbourhoods are very often unaware of the impact their actions have on local residents, or the danger they pose to other road users and pedestrians and this is something we are working with communities to address.”

Full training will be given and volunteers on the scheme will visit known speeding hotspots within their own communities and will use hand-held speed guns to capture the speeds of oncoming vehicles. Details of those vehicles will be collated and relayed back to North Wales Police, who then issue a letter to the owners warning them that they have been spotted.

North Wales Police are now recruiting volunteers for the role of ‘Community Speed Watch Operator’. If you would like to help reduce speeding in your area and feel that you would be interested in this role please visit the North Wales Police Website http://www.north-wales.police.uk/ and follow the link on the recruitment pagehttp://www.north-wales.police.uk/recruitment/volunteers/current-vacancies/community-speed-watch-operator.aspx

Council Talk

This letter appeared in today's Flintshire Chronicle. No reflection on Clerk Sarah as she has to do as directed by her employers.

The second paragraph made me smile. Ken hasn't been to a Penyffordd Community Council meeting has he?  :)

( go to the last paragraph for a summary)

We're in it up to our necks as well.

It's innocent people who suffer.

Look  left past Ireland over the great water for the main perpetrators.

All this gives our gov the excuse to have us all under total control.

George Orwell would smile.

How would like 2000 displaced people coming to Penyffordd?
How would you like to be told your taking two of them.

It's happening in Germany as I write

And who has caused all this displacement?

Snow Apparently

Next Saturday night.

http://www.wrexham.com/news/86-chance-of-snow-on-saturday-evening-103311.html

Chancing it a bit aren't they?

The weather people have quite a lot of trouble forecasting next day.

I Spy with my little eye

An informant tells me there was a cctv camera set up looking down Penymynydd Rd.
It was there for two days and then taken down.

Perhaps to see how parents park their vehicles when dropping off children to school?

Would you like to get out meet people? Plenty of fresh air and exercise, get rid of that cabin fever.

Where's the kids?

Or perhaps where is hubby?

Do modern parents want to know where their children are?
This is a tracker on my mobile phone. It costs about £1.80. I'd taken a parcel around to the Spar.
You can see me staggering around the block. It was only 3pm .............
The zig zagging is me at The Spar, I couldn't find the door!

I've got another one called Followmee it only senses every 10 mins but it has such refinements as a geofence which would tell you when said child/hubby had gone out of his/her permitted zones.

So you too as well as GCHQ will know what's happening.

Penymynydd Rd will be closed

outside the Institute tonight for the bonfire.

The Bonfire

Bonfire night is one of two times a year when many people of the village get together. It has just been pouring down, the bonfire however needs constructing. The best way of doing it is over a few days but you can't do that because some joker might set it on fire before the big night.

So its before 9 in the morning, wet slippy wood everywhere. Residents have been bringing their contributions for the bonfire for the last fortnight. Someone's brought a settee, plenty of leylandii and cypress from near the butcher's shop.  It's been a children's play ground for half term. I wonder about all those nails sticking out of the wood.

Volunteers spend a lot of the day constructing.
Volunteers are also in the Institute kitchen as I write preparing for tonight.

I'm not sure how much money it makes because there are big expenses.

I usually watch the fireworks from the bedroom. I sit the dog on the window sill, he's not bothered by the fireworks as many animals are. When the bangs start there is always an "exit stage left" for parents with screaming frightened children.

Bonfire night a strange celebration. If my history serves me without looking at google we are celebrating the burning of a catholic at the stake for attempting to blow up parliament.

Pretty horrible we were in those days.
I wonder how catholics feel about bonfire night? Is the tradition kept up by protestants to remind catholics of their place?

Down south they've started the tradition of burning politicians. They construct a giant effigy, this year its our prime minister David Cameron with his pig's head.

Perhaps someone can spare a space tonight on their bonfire for our dick head minister who is pushing for our RAF to fly into Syrian airspace currently controlled by Russia. Is he trying to start world War III?

Those who never learn from mistakes are bound to repeat them.

Tomorrow Remembrance Sunday..........

Lost the Plot

This morning a neighbour in the Post Office asked me why I was watering
the pavement with a watering can.
She said we've had quite a lot of rain the last few days does it need it?

I said I've lost the plot.

Residents have been treading dog muck for the last two days thought I'd do my bit.
