The Position of Penyffordd Community Council Chairman - A Clarification

I have repeated on here that Tom Jones would be Chairman come the new council meeting. A commenter puts me right. My apologies for any false information given.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reference your comments about the Chair of the New council.
We have to remember that the old Council elected Cllr Tom Cones to serve as it's Vice-Chairman as was their choice, nothing to do with Cllr Tom jones at all. Someone had to stand in for Cllr David Williams if he was absent.
When the New council meets Cllr David Williams will preside, and after all Members have signed in and accepted the Code of Conduct, and relevant declarations have been made the Chairman will call for a proposition as to who should be Chairman, and it will then be open for any name to be put forward. Neither Cllr Tom Jones nor Cllr Cindy Hinds will have the power to put themselves forward, it will be entirely a matter for the Elected Members. In the event of more than one name being put forward, then it will be put to the vote, in the long accepted standard procedure. The person receiving the most votes will be Elected. The next step in the process vwill be the election of a Vice-Chairman

  1. Further thoughts. You say "Neither Cllr Tom Jones nor Cllr Cindy Hinds will have the power to put themselves forward"

Tom Jones has a group excluding himself of 5 political allies out of 10 council members.

Cindy Hinds, brave soul on her own !

    1. Cindy was in the same position in the old Council!
How do you think she became the Chairman?
Answer :- by the good will of the Elected members, and it was a unanimous decision!
      So you are wrong again.

    3. Just think, if the coummumity council had a website, such information about the workings of said council could be open to all of the electorate, rather than keeping due process "behind closed doors".

I don't doubt the process, but why not be free and open with the information which clearly exists in some format?

Just occasionally free access to such information would dispell common misunderstandings and serve to inform those not familiar with the workings of local government!

    4. You raise a good issue. What you suggest can be done for free.
I have offered to do it, it is still on the table.

All it needs is that Scribe Nigel's typist email's agendas and minutes to someone like me then they can be put on the same day.

Tom's modus operandi excludes anything such as the above. Tom in my view is a control freak. The less information around the better.

If all minutes were online in digital format instant searches could be done on individual cllrs for the last 4 years. What they had said, what they had instigated. Not pretty reading in some cases.
