Penyffordd District comment

With regards the elderly couple killed by a young racer outside Mold. North Wales Police and the North Wales Police should take some responsibility for having a skeleton traffic division. Penyffordd has racers through the village everyday. At night the roads are left to youth hurling around with no enforcement in sight.

Boy racer gets 6 years for deaths.

We get them past here every day.
Further proof that policing is out of control.
Should North Wales Police Authority have been in the dock as well?
They stood by whilst Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom decimated the traffic division.

When are you going to do something about it Chief Superintendent Ruth Purdie?

Are The Police out of control?

Last week a mother killed herself and a child after years of bullying. Then we have a mother having her house broken into and being assaulted. The police will not turn up because they say they may inflame the situation.
Much further down the list we have un policed roads in Penyffordd. Still capable of causing death though.

Secret Meetings?

Penyffordd councillors had a secret meeting with Charles Hughes Head of Engineering and Derek Kirby Head of Highways Strategy over Warren Hall developments.

Was the meeting minuted?
Was the meeting discussed at monthly community council and minuted?
If not why not?

Have Penyffordd councillors capitulated?

Warren Hall will affect Chester Rd, Wrexham Rd and Corwen road with increased traffic levels.

Postscript. Cllr Cindy Hinds informs me she has made representations to Shire Hall with regards Warren Hall developments.

Comments

At last Broughton has woken up and protested. this is my opinion back in 2005 SAY NO to the planning application for Warren Hall Business Park., being held on 27th July 2005. I am a resident of Higher Kinnerton who has recently attended a meeting on 22nd July 2005 at the Unit 7 WDA offices in St Asaph, chaired by Mark Tami MP, included Carl Sargeant AM , and Chris Farrow , and another colleague from the WDA. My great concern, supported by most of the residents of Higher Kinnerton, Penymynydd and Penyffordd, is the HUGE INCREASE IN TRAFFIC expected. Also raised was the buried carcass of animals that had foot & mouth, the location of which is directly under the proposed Hotel. This meeting heard the objections re-iterated and the replies by WDA, who welcomed our opinions and advice. If, as it is likely, that many of the proposed 5000+ jobs could be women on a part-time basis, this further increases the traffic! It has already been reported that FCC will have a budget shortfall & intend to make job cuts, and this means any requests by local Community Councils for Match Funding for Traffic Schemes will be declined, just when they will be needed most, to combat ‘rat runs’! See below my earlier objections. I have learned from Chris Farrow that he will be part of a new Welsh Assembly Committee with similar powers, but more accountability to taxpayers –see my reason number 3. Since my objection item 6, there has been flooding at BAe and Broughton Retail Park. Re: Planning Application 038744 Warren Hall Business Park Class B1. I object to the above having seen the WDA exhibition in our Village Hall and listened to the concerns of other residents. My main reasons are:- 1. The application should not be considered until FCC has published its Unitary Development Plan. 2. The scheme is too large and will generate major traffic problems for our village and it’s currently easy access to the A5104 and A55. 3. The WDA are a failed QUANGO due to be abolished soon, long before the proposed scheme would start, leaving the locals with an unwanted development that would provide jobs for mostly outsiders. 4. The B1 category has the potential to change this mainly residential & agricultural area into an Industrial Zone. 5. The existing plan is a ‘re-hash’ of earlier ones from 17 years ago, and would contribute to ‘urban sprawl’, breaking the planning guidelines and our ‘Green Barrier’. 6. This application gives me no confidence that it’s ‘promises’ will be kept relating to ‘leisure facilities’, that there is a potential for water ‘run-off’ increasing the risk of flooding.

Bad news for Chester Rd Penyffordd

Work has started on the A55 Warren Bank Interchange at Broughton. This will have an enormous effect on traffic through Penyffordd unless through traffic is banned. Traffic coming from the North of England travelling to Mid Wales will get off the A55 at Warren Bank instead of Dobshill and take a short cut through the village also on the way back home. This will add 1000's of vehicles each week. This news is very bad for Chester Rd.

Alienating People

Why do I do it? I think its called frustration.
There is no real interest shown after nearly three years of pushing.

So far I have alienated.

1. Cllr Cindy Hinds and so most probably Carl Sargeant AM and Mark Tami MP
2. Cllr David Williams
3. Penyffordd Community Council
4. Arrive Alive
5. North Wales Police
5. North Wales Police Authority.
6. Flintshire County Council.

How do you get the above agencies and people to see there is an issue? I went through Pontblyddyn the other day the Arrive Alive van is there regular. Why isn't the van in Chester Rd?

Only former Inpector Alun Oldfield ( now with CID ) has ever invited me to a site meeting. If I went away tomorrow or stopped complaining about traffic little would get done. postscript Arrive Alive have also invited me to a site meeting in the past.

Penyffordd councillors have little interest in environment. It's nearly three years since I started campaigning after Penyffordd Council said " nothing to do with them"

They have little concern whatsoever for village safety and environment.

Being nice to people doesn't work.
So does alienation work? Not sure......
Living on a road that has over a 1000 speeders daily is not fun.
It used to be near 2000.
If elected people will not fix it I intend to be a pain "ad infinitum".

Rossett village is the model, Flintshire County Council I feel wish to retain Chester Rd an ex trunk road as a de facto trunk road. So lies the problem.....

pontificating in traffic issues in Shotton.

Link The Leader

My comments which are at the bottom of the article.

Whilst sympathising with the predicament of the Shotton gridlock I and other Chester Rd, Penyffordd residents would wish to see Cllr Cindy Hinds getting involved a little nearer home with our morning rat run and constant speeding. Cllr Cindy Hinds has been in the job for over two years now and has so far failed to address Chester Rd residents concerns. We are a major route to school. North Wales Police should be pressed into honouring their commitments to communities.

Postscript. The Labour Party should refrain from getting Cindy to quote on traffic issues until she has fixed Chester Rd Penyffordd. The exception being the rolling out of 20 mph zones in communities and outside schools.

Further postscript. I shoot at the wrong people. Cindy is part of a scrutiny committee on Environment at FCC. Cindy was speaking in her capacity as a committee member. Still ironic as we have over a 1000 speeders a day through the village. Is speeding cars nothing to do with environment?

Leader Quote

"But Cllr Matt Wright, chairman of Flintshire’s environment and regeneration scrutiny committee, has vowed not to let the issue go and said it remains a top priority for Dave Faulkner, the council’s head of highways and transportation.

Cllr Wright made the promises after members of the committee, including Penyffordd councillor Cindy Hinds, voiced fears about Shotton having become one of the worst areas in Flintshire for traffic problems."

Good morning Howie,

The rat run currently in full flow.
I hear you are not happy about disparaging remarks I have made about you.
You can blame Cllr Cindy Hinds,Cllr David Williams and Penyffordd Community Council for my comments.
After over 2 years it is patently obvious they have no appetite to stop the speeding traffic in Chester Rd.
Votes, revenge and apathy over child and OAP safety?
Perhaps they should all go except for Cllr Linda Vidamour?

How to stop the morning rat run part one.
Stand at the entrance to Terrace Lane or sit in car doing paper work.
Rat run cannot see you so they cannot accelerate from the middle of the village.
If they continue to take no notice they deserve booking.

Perhaps you can rope in the ghost squad otherwise known as North Wales Police traffic division?
My MP Mark Tami has written for the 2nd time to Arrive Alive perhaps you can confer with them.

Your suggestion that the speed limit be rolled back up the hill is most excellent.

Penyffordd Councillors lack of commitment

For 2.75 years I have raised the issue of mass speeding through the village. There has been very little interest.
Chester Rd is a major route to a primary school, councillors ignore this.

My polite letter to Penyffordd Community Council met by a phone call from Community Clerk Nigel (GNI) Jones saying that speeding was nothing to do with the council.
Little has changed.

I have been in various trouble including threats of legal action with Cllr Colin Bithell being the ring leader because Penyffordd councillors will not push North Wales Police and Arrive Alive to do their job.

I helped with the removal of Cllr Colin Bithell at the last election because he would not listen. He lost a very lucrative position (circa £20,000) in Flintshire County Council due to him not seeing speeding as a village issue

At the next election we need a mass clearout.

We need 10 Cllr Linda Vidamour's.

cc. Chief Constable Mark Polin, Carl Sargeant AM, Mark Tami MP.

Dear Leader
A letter for consideration.
With regards the recent tragic loss of Eric Townsend a retired police officer and his wife Marie on the Mold bypass last December by a racing motorist who has now been found guilty. It is ironic that a former police officer should be struck down in the golden years of his retirement due to North Wales Police's abandonment of traffic policing aided and abetted by the North Wales Police Authority, Welsh Assembly Government and Home Office.
As the Leader letter writer, a retired police officer Mike Griffiths recently stated former Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom decimated the traffic section of NWP.
Is it not time to clear out most of the pen pushers who produce statistics we do not believe and get police officers back on the streets? This would please both communities and police officers on the front line.
With regards speeding traffic, Arrive Alive have very detailed data which is currently kept secret of where speeding is concentrated. This information should be made fully available to communities and North Wales Police so that the plague of anti social driving can be addressed properly and efficiently
The loss Eric and Marie Townsend should be a poignant reminder to North Wales Police management and politicians that making North Wales roads safer requires much more than just lip service.

Dear Chief Constable,
We are well into our morning rat run of about 300 vehicles many speeding, lots with illegal exhausts.

I realise you have not started yet but one topic I feel you should have at the top of your list when you start are Neighbourhood Forums. Whilst a very good idea in theory they fall down flat if there is no accountability which is the position we have in Chester Rd, Penyffordd.

Last forum meeting NWP promised action against speeding. What have we had, nothing!
Councillors will not push NWP.

It also seems politically acceptable that speeding and illegal exhausts are ok.

Is this the new Wales? mediocrity!

We have mediocre councillors, county, politicians and police including Arrive Alive.
Arrive Alive should be disbanded for hiding speed data from communities.

Are you going to make a difference or will it be business as normal, just stopping a few vehicles with registration plate issues looking like you are doing something when in fact you are doing nothing just collecting good wages and a nice pension.

North Wales including Chester Rd is a race track. Are you going to do anything about it?
Are you going to make your mark?

Telling Lies

I very rarely tell lies. One of the only times is to spare someone's feelings. If you do not tell lies life is straight forward. There is also the moral side.

I put in an FOIE to Flintshire County Council over the placement of a CCTV camera below which was positioned looking directly at my house.

The questions I asked on the FOIE included a question or two to which I already knew the answer.
I got the reply to my FOIE yesterday.

All will be revealed when I find out.
I do have my suspicions though.

1000's of motorcycles descend on North Wales

in protest over their view that that North Wales Police are victimising motorcycle riders. All summer on any sunny Sunday motorcycles can be heard from the middle of the village tonning it down the Penyffordd Bypass. These motorcyclists are having a laugh. North Wales Police usually ignore laws regarding decibal levels of exhaust systems and they feel hard done by!
This is why North Wales sounds like a race track.

My informant tells me police helicopters are being drafted in from other forces.

Perhaps we need the army in to help North Wales Police and VOSA to check exhaust noise levels and confiscate any machines that are over the limit. If there are 5000 motorcylces there must be a 1000 over the limit. The fines could pay for the police presence.

I read on the net that we had all this protesting in the media about the headless motorcyclist and former Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom. The proper story that should have been told was that the motorcyclist involved had no insurance or tax, he had a head on with a car with a family in it. The family were trapped in their car which included two children with a headless body for more than an hour.

how sad

I am frankly both disgusted and saddened by the number of people that seem to be committed to pissing off police officers who are carrying out their paid duties which includes enforcing the law and reporting people that have broken the law for prosecution. Every time someone rides into NW with an illegal no plate, exhaust or whatever, they are justifying the stop action being taken by NW police. I find it incredible that so many people fail to recognise this simple fact. It is a real shame that more people are not campaigning to ensure that the 1 in 8 that are currently stopped and found to be illegal are encouraged to get legal, thereby reducing the number that each week are effectively justifying the action taken in stopping bikes in the first place! People in glass houses and all that. It really is THAT simple!

Penyffordd is fortunate. It's in an area of north east Wales which, together with the M4 corridor, is the country's economic powerhouse. The proximity to the Airbus and Toyota plants and others has provided plenty of opportunities in the past and no doubt will continue to do so in the future.

Hi Jim,
I see someone else feels similar to me about your organisation.

Comment quote link below "Once upon a time, the police would turn up, measure up, take some photos, examine the vehicles-on site- or take them away to examine later, and then re-open the road, fairly quickly.
If you are held up in a traffic queue now, and have to catch a flight, or a ferry, or your tacograph is ticking away. The police seem unconcerned and absolve themselves of any responsibility of the delays, and adjoining traffic chaos, caused in the area. They spend hours taking minute measurements so they can load them into a computer program to prove that the vehicle was going too fast, the bend was too sharp, the road was too wet, etc, etc, produce a glossy report, present it, and the chances are, nothing will be done to improve the situation at that spot. Highways authorities are spending less on roads, the police have reduced their traffic patrols by 15% to 20%, and rely mainly on Safety Partnership Cameras to police the roads.

In fact, if you believe the statistics from Safety Partnership's, they save so many lives, they're bringing them back from the dead ! If you compare actual UK road death figures over several years, there's hardly any difference, it's mainly spin !"

Dear Leader
A letter for consideration, there are a lot of very silly people out there.

I read in The Leader with interest that the 10:10 Climate Change campaign is gaining momentum in North Wales. Can we look at the facts before this harebrained campaign goes any further. One of 10:10's aims is to encourage people to fly less. Do they want 10% less Airbus workers or Airbus aircraft?

UK's current contribution to global carbon emissions is less than 2%. China and India in the next year will make UK's contribution less than 1%. North Wales' contribution to global warming is an irrelevence. Cutting your energy bills by 10% is admirable but the energy companies will just raise charges to cover the shortfall.

Angelsey Aluminium closure is the wake up call for mass job losses unless we are very careful. We are in the middle of the largest recession since the depression. If the Private Sector in Wales which provide wages for ALL public sector jobs is not allowed unfettered access to recovery with improved bank assistance there will be mass unemployment and large shortfalls in money available for pensions and healthcare.

This campaign is madness, it is time
to wake up before Wales becomes a nation of sheep farmers. China and India will be laughing all the way to the bank. The time for this campaign is when we return to prosperity not whilst we are down on our knees.

Daily Rat Run denial by councillors

For 2.5 years vow I have been going on a speeding in Chester Rd. This morning I spoke to Mr Davies who lives on Chester Rd. He goes to Wrexham Football match with Cllr Colin Bithell. Mr Davies has spoken to Cllr Bithell about speeding, he just ignores what Mr Davies says as he does when I mention speeding. Mr Davies watches the rat run each morning and has complained to North Wales Police but so far to no avail.
Is it not time for all those Penyffordd councillors who think councillor duties extend to a monthly inconvenience attending community meetings even if it gets in the way of a Liverpool match to stand down?

Postscript. I forgot to repeat Cllr Colin Bithell has tried to get North Wales Police to shut me up, they declined saying I had a right to free speech. Then he got Penyffordd Community Council to approach Flintshire County Council with a view to them taking me to court. They declined.

It's time for Cllr Colin Bithell to retire. He has never had any vision as a county councillor for Penyffordd to remain a village centre. Just picked up his £12,500 each year and was only interested in Shire Hall.

Quote from Leader full article below "Former council leader Alex Aldridge, who went on regular holidays to Spain, staying with Cllr Sharps and Cllr Higham, who owned an apartment there, said: “Mel was a generous, warm, true friend, who made it to the top without treading on anyone"

The New and the Old

Airbus A380

This afternoon there was a flyby by the only Vulcan bomber in existence that is airworthy just after 3.00pm. This was followed by the A380 Airbus. Both did circles around Airbus Broughton. We were returning from a walk so decided to watch them from Hope Mountain along with about a 100 other people. It was not the best place. Broughton was the best place to watch.

My objection to Terrace Lane development filled in online.

Link
Land adjacent to Brooklyn Farm

My comments are not yet showing acknowledgement has been given. Given my previous difficulties with FOIE's this is not a good sign.

Reasons not to have it.

1. It affects house values of those that back onto the field
2. It is for 12 stables. It's too large.
3. Access will be via Terrace Lane which is very narrow.
4. Once planning is given they will be looking to build a house due to the number of horses
that will need to be looked after.
The following could be used " Security and well-being of the horses would be a material consideration"

5. This is the thin end of the wedge. Once this development is granted there will be ongoing pressure to allow further residential expansion. Penyffordd's share of Flintshire UDP housing is already approaching 30% of the current village which is an unfair obligation.
6. The field has a footpath on which local people walk their dogs. Horses can be dangerous creatures and have a capacity to kill or seriously injure local people and their dogs.
7. It's a business development on greenfields.

8. Question - Is it outside boundary for development?
9. The smell of horse urine down wind of stables would be offensive.
10. The impact on the visual amenity of nearby residential properties
11. The buildings would harm the rural character of the locality.
12. The buildings would underminine the openness of the countryside.
13. I am told that horses require an acre each. I understand the proposal is for 12 horses and the field is 9 acres with the buildings and manage taking up a proportion of the 9 acres. This means insufficient grass requirements for 12 horses.
14. I am told the building is large enough to have an upstair area. If this is so it would appear that plans are in place to use this area as accommodation.
15. Work has started and a substantial amount of money spent before planning consent has been given. I find this flagrant breech of planning rules of considerable concern.
16. The fields have been used for many years as a village common by many villagers. This will amount to the removal of a village amenity.

postscript. The way that the new owners are going ahead before planning permission is granted suggests that permission is a mere formality.

It was interesting which community councillors were not at all bothered about this breach of planning law. Why do they turn up?

Cllr David Williams all dressed up

Shirt, tie and suit.
First Penyffordd Community Council meeting then off to The Red Lion to meet BBC Wales. I'm sure all will become apparent in due course.

To Abergele Golf Club

Isn't life strange. Today I have played golf with former Chief Superintendent John Vaughan of North Wales Police. He was also I think Detective Chief Superintendent. John is a gentleman, a fine man. He tells me Chief Superintendent Ruth Purdie worked in one of his departments.
John tells me he was in the force when David Owen was Chief Constable.

I did a type of " Round with Alliss" with John. This is a telly program where Peter Alliss, golf professional and BBC presenter plays a golf round with celebs.

My golf partner was less than happy with this pre-occupation. I asked John such questions as what crime he solved as a detective gave him the most satisfaction.

I also asked him who he thought would be the new Chief Constable of North Wales Police.
To be continued......

John sends his regards Ruth.

Penyffordd Community Council September meeting

At 6.30 pm in the room at the back of The Institute. All are welcome to attend.
I think speeding may get a mention tonight courtesy of Cllrs Linda Vidamour and Cindy Hinds.

Speeding traffic Chester Rd

I have been banging the drum about this for over 2.5 years now and still the speeding goes on. It is a considerable amount of traffic over a 1000 speeding vehicles each day. It used to be 2000 in 2007. Flintshire County Council hold two sets of traffic data that prove my assertions. They will not currently release it.

Perhaps this is about to change.

Most Penyffordd Councillors can't see the issue. I can't see what their purpose is apart from blocking those who want to stand. This distortion of local democracy has got to change. It will be brought before the village before the next local elections.

Postscript: The above is causing some issues with councillors. Cllrs Cindy Hinds and David Williams, Lisa Harding and myself organised own election literature which is how it should be.

The other 10 councillors stood "en block" on one sheet. This required no effort by most of those who stood.

This is a distortion of democracy.

The only councillor who shines on the list of 10 is Cllr Linda Vidamour. If we had 10 Linda's we would be flying along. We haven't, just loads of dead wood some with a grudge.

The bottom line is that those with grudges have done little over speeding traffic in Chester Rd. This will be mentioned at the next local elections if it is still happening.
(looks like I repeat myself)

Hotmail has changed you will need to alter your Outlook Express settings

I have Hotmail emails bouncing today. Not mine yours out there. If you are sending emails and no one is coming back to you it will be because of what is written below. I run Outlook Express and have had to comply and alter OE settings.

Microsoft want you to move away from Outlook Express. Just take no notice if you are happy with it.

Dear Windows Live Hotmail Customer,
You are receiving this note because you have used Microsoft Office Outlook, Outlook Express, or Entourage to view your Windows Live Hotmail®. Microsoft is changing the way these programs access Hotmail e-mail which will require you to take action.

To continue to receive e-mail from your Hotmail account, please select one of the alternative solutions below before September 1, 2009. After this day, new e-mail can only be delivered to your mail programs through the following alternative solutions.

If you use Microsoft Office Outlook to view Hotmail, you can download free Office Outlook Connector to continue accessing your Windows Live Hotmail within Outlook 2003 or 2007. If you're using Outlook 2002, you will need to change the settings on your program to access your Hotmail. Click here to learn more.

If you use Outlook Express to view Hotmail, you can choose to download free Windows Live Mail (recommended) or change the settings on your program to access your Hotmail within Outlook Express. Click here to learn more about your options.

If you use Entourage to view Hotmail, you can change the settings in your program to view your e-mail. Click here to learn more.

Don't know what you're using to view Hotmail? Have more questions? View the FAQ page or visit the Community Forum.

Why is this happening? Outlook, Outlook Express, and Entourage use a legacy communications method (known as the DAV protocol) to access Hotmail. Because the DAV protocol is not optimally suited for programs to access large inboxes such as Hotmail which now provides users ever-growing storage*, new alternatives have been built. Last year, customers asked us to postpone plans to retire the DAV protocol until more options were available. Now that these options (including the POP3 protocol) are available, we are ready to retire the DAV protocol.

Thank you for using Windows Live Hotmail.

Sincerely,

Your Windows Live Hotmail Team
